BISHOP of Kimbe Bill Fey has returned to Papua New Guinea celebrating 50 years of priesthood.
Fey was flown home to St Augustine after he suffered a stroke but returned on Thursday recovered.
He visited the Catholic Bishops Conference and spent time speaking about the programme that promoted the unity of different churches, youth issues and the other concerns he had dealt with in his 50 years of service as a priest.
Fey came to Papua New Guinea in 1987 and worked on rebuilding the academic programme of the Capuchin Friars the Major Seminary in Bomana.
Fey’s love of God and the church has been expressed in his love of learning, teaching and formation work.
He was elected councillor for two consecutive terms and then as vice-provincial minister in 2007. He was appointed Bishop of Kimbe in 2010.
Having reached retirement age and fighting serious health concerns, he resigned as Bishop of Kimbe but his resignation was declined.
Fey still remains Bishop of Kimbe.
