JOHN Bivi is the duly appointed acting provincial administrator for Madang, says Public Services Minister Elias Kapavore.
He said the provincial executive council had recommended the suspension of Danny Aloi as the provincial administrator “pending investigations into allegations raised against him”.
They also decided that day to name Bivi acting provincial administrator.
Kapavore told Parliament that the National Executive Council had endorsed Bivi as the acting administrator during a meeting on Feb 22.
“I urge the Madang provincial administration and the staff to work together with the current provincial administrator who is now endorsed by NEC. The instruments from the head of state will be done shortly,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kapavore said the number of unattached officers had been reduced from 7000 to 6000 since the data cleansing exercise.
“We commenced the data cleansing exercise last year as part of the 100-day plan and we found out that there were more than 7000 public servants who were unattached and on the government payroll system.
“We have now reduced the number of unattached public services to 6,000 using the data cleansing exercise. We will continue to do this as we go forward.
“We have completed 22 departments and we will continue to the provinces as well.”
