Blacklock reveals city power issues almost resolved

PNG Power acting managing director Carolyn Blacklock says power outage in areas of the National Capital District is about to be fully resolved.
Blacklock was giving an update on ongoing power outage since New Year’s Day.
“Feeder 8 Bomana has been restored to 100 per cent,” she said.
“Suspected faulty parts at Bomana Feeder 1, which could not be accessed due to flood, were also restored.
“Impacted areas Rouna Quarry, Gouna Farm, Shorncliffe, Nebiri Quarry, Nazareth Mission, Laloki Hospital, CS College, NARI 1 and 2, Goldie Barracks, Police College and Bomana Prison have been restored.”
In other developments:

  • A tree branch was cleared at Atlas Steel;
  • fibre cable tangled to high-voltage lines near Telikom earth station at Kanudi 3 Feeder was fixed;
  • Work has progressed to restore Kanudi 3 Feeder for impacted areas of Baruni, Tatana, Atlas Steel, Porebada Road, Papa-Lealea, Telikom Station and Rainbow;
  • Boroko 4 Feeder tripped on Monday morning; and,
  • Boroko 6 feeder encountered faults with transformer at Pari village on Monday morning, causing power outage.

PNG Power technical teams and linesmen have continued to patrol and identify faulty areas for fixing and restoring power as quick as possible.
