NAOANI Vare’s 44 runs saw the Cricket PNG Board 11 win the final of the Isuzu Women’s Bash tournament on Sunday.
The Board (2/113) crushed their PNG Lewas Legends compatriots (9/111) by eight wickets.
The final at Amini Park on Sunday saw the Board 11 win the toss and send the Legends in to bat first with the Legends caught off guard early with opener Tanya Frank dismissed for a duck thanks to bowler Mairi Tom.
The Legends find some hope with Sibona Jimmy scoring 35 runs while PNG Lewas skipper Kaia Arua adding 34 from the middle order which got them over the century mark at the end of their 20 overs.
Kila Frank was the pick of the Board attack claiming 3-15 including two victims dispatched without scoring a run.
Both Mairi Tom and Henao Thomas bagged two wickets each while Venau Israel claimed one.
The Board 11 chase saw Vare step up with a gutsy 44 with great support from Baia John (34); Brenda Tau (12 not out) and Tanya Ruma (2 not out) eased the side past the target for resounding win.
