THE Southern Highlands health authority’s chairwoman and her deputy donated funding and gifts to recognise Mendi Provincial Hospital staff and patients during Christmas.
The funds and gifts from Stephanie Campbell and Peter Nupiri were presented on Tuesday.
The authority’s chief executive officer Dr Joseph Birisi said though the board’s executives were in Australia, they had directed the management to organise the event.
The authority’s management team received six laptops, three pigs and certificates of recognition for high performing units at the hospital.
Local construction firm Kemele Construction chipped in with a donation for the Christmas party in appreciation for the health services it provided to the people.
Dr Birisi said authority’s management had no plans to host a Christmas party or give awards so they were grateful that the board had stepped in.
“The directors of corporate, curative and public health services will receive two laptops each,” he said.
“The public health service will be given a pig, hospital staff another and the third pig is for the patients,” he said.
