THE body of a woman, believed to have been murdered, has been found floating in the sea near Pobuma local level government’s Bundralie village on Saturday.
Manus commander Chief Insp David Yapu said the woman, believed to be from West Sepik’s Aitape, could have been murdered and thrown into the sea.
“A wound was found on her forehead,” he said.
Chief Insp Yapu said the woman and her husband had an argument on Thursday, and, thereafter, she went missing. “A search was launched and the body was found between 11am and noon,” he said.
“Locals then helped police retrieve the body and sent it to the Pelipowai health centre for examination by the health extension officer.
“The body was highly decomposed and could not be transported to Lorengau General Hospital.
“The husband has been detained in the police lockup for questioning and investigation.
“The case has been classified as a murder.”
