Bombers lack heavy guys up front

Letters, Normal

Last Sunday, I watched the first bemobile Cup match between the Bombers and Muruks in Lae.
Both teams put on a very entertaining football.
Although the young Morobean players put up a good fight, they eventually lost out as they lacked leadership up front.
As a result, there was no coordination and structure with everyone playing individually.
They failed to realise that they are no longer playing a club football but a semi-pro league where the level of competition is very tough.
And if they continue to put up the same performance, then we are looking at the wooden spoon,
I suggest we field two or three big heavy forwards who can cart the ball up, go forward to lay the foundation and then the backlines can complete the set.
In league, you normally have guys with weight and size up front to set the foundation.
Those who watched the game between the Muruks and Bombers on Sunday would see that the Muruks won the game simply because of their forwards.
It is still early days and I believe the young Bombers can do better.
