Booze blamed for killings

BOOZE is being blamed for four killings, a child among them, in various parts of East Sepik this month, according to police.
Provincial police commander Supt Albert Beli said they were investigating four murders, with alcohol as the main cause of the killings.
He said the child was killed after her mother disturbed a drinking party near their home at Kombagora village in the Wewak.
“The child was sleeping in her home,” he said.
“Because of the noise made by the three suspects (two men and a woman), she woke up.
“Her mum carried her outside where her mother was attacked with bamboo sticks.
“In the attack, the child is alleged to have been hit, dying from the wounds sustained.
“Police attended the scene and arrested the three suspects, who are detained.”
A suspect of rape had been charged with murder after he allegedly killed a man who had allegedly burnt his house at Hombonumbo place, Nambasi village, Yangoru-Saussia.
According to police reports, the suspect and another man had raped a woman on May 17.
The husband of the victim gathered a group of youths and under the influence of alcohol, they went to the home of the main suspect and burnt down his home.
He managed to catch one of the youths who he killed.
In the third incident, a man was killed by a suspect with a bush knife.
More details are being sought by police into the incident at Imanmary village, Angoram.
At Kambaimbit village, Angoram, a man was killed with a homemade gun in relation to a killing of another man in 2019.
Police are still investigating the case.
