STUDENTS from the Don Bosco Technical School will have a better understanding of North American history – thanks to the American Embassy.
US Ambassador Teddy Taylor and school principal Fr Peter Baquero signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday to take part in the development of an American Shelf in the school library.
The American Shelf will contain a broad section of books written by United States of America authors. The shelf will include DVDs, CDs and movies.
The collection of books will include information and reference materials about US society, history, study and teaching of the English language, including the supplementing and updating of the collection.
Taylor said the MoU signing was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of USAID Pacific Islands, which was established in 1961 and the American Shelf would look at the USA’s lasting legacy.
He donated three computers to the library.
Peter thanked the US government and said it was instrumental in the establishment of a good number of buildings at the institution 25 years ago.
The books will be at a cost of US$5,000 (K10,638).
