THE Toaripi Sports Association in Gulf has been revived to promote and develop healthy lifestyles and gender equality in the villages.
Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation special programmes officer Michelle Bowen took the lead in rejuvenating the association after it had lain dormant for 25 years.
Bowen said the association comprised the villages of Uritai, Kukipi, Hamuhamu, Leleferiu, Isapeape, Lalapipi, Mirivase and Popo.
The association president is Ila Mola and the youth coordinator is Farapo Araua.
At the launch, former politician Jamie Maxtone Graham donated sporting equipment worth K3000 to the association.
Former Enga education director Joseph Makeu met the cost of logistics and accommodation for Toaripi and Moripi athletes who gathered at Malalaua for the launching. Makeu called on government agencies in the province to take the leading role and support impact programmes in sports at the district and village level.
Bowen acknowledged the support and said it should be an eye opener for local businessmen.
She said the East Kerema Netball tournament would be staged on July 29-31 at the Lese council chamber grounds.
Bowen said potential sponsors can contact her on 75442016.
