THE Brian Bell Foundation donated a new set of uniforms to the Women’s National Soccer League Highlands Conference side Kuri in Mt Hagen last weekend.
Team manager Ronnie Mitau said such support would help promote women’s soccer in the region by boosting the morale of players in the country’s premier football competition.
He commended the foundation for stepping in to help address law and order through sports.
“On behalf of the Kuri players and officials, I thank Mt Hagen Brian Bell Homecentre for sponsoring the team to compete in the Highlands Conference,” Mitau said.
“Most of the players are unfortunate women and girls, and the tournament can provide great exposure for them in the football industry.
“We’re grateful for the 18 jerseys and 15 socks. Brian Bell sponsors other sporting activities too.
“They presented a total of six dart boards to the Mt Hagen Dart Association last month.”
On behalf of the company management, Susan Pidik Ausia said the foundation had been supporting sporting activities like rugby league by providing gear, including uniforms.
“With uniforms, this is Mt Hagen Brian Bell Homecentre’s first initiative,” she said.
“Therefore, on behalf of the management, I urge the girls to play with pride because they are carrying the company’s name.”
