THE Brian Bell Group through its “Christmas Wishing Tree” initiative and the Sir Brian Bell Foundation is supporting Lae-based Femili PNG with a K24,515 donation.
The foundation created a unique opportunity for people to be able to support numerous charities across Papua New Guinea during the months of November and December.
Brian Bell Homecentres, Trade Electricals and Chemicals provided the opportunity for everyone to purchase a K5 bauble and place it on the “Christmas Wishing Tree” with a special Christmas message.
All the funds raised from the K5 Christmas baubles were given to charities including Femili PNG, which was selected by the foundation.
Brian Bell Homecentres Lae manager Tony Incoll said the promotion raised more than K4500.
“With that amount, the Sir Brian Bell Foundation donated an additional K20,000 to each of the charities,” he said.
“With the help of Sir Brian Bell Foundation, we are making a worthy donation.
“We hope that Femili PNG can put it to good use in helping the people of Lae in situations beyond their control.”
Femili PNG is a non-government organisation that runs a case management centre to assist survivors of family and sexual violence.
“The donation will help us to continue our services to the survivors, and also help to support our partners who assist survivors of family and sexual violence,” operations manager Denga Ilave said.
“Femili PNG thanks the Brian Bell Group and the Sir Brian Bell Foundation for donating over K24,500 to support our work.”
The chief executive Brian Bell Group, Cameron Mackellar, said: “We could not be more excited by the outcome and results of our Christmas Wishing Tree initiative.
“It was all about giving, sharing and family.
“I was amazed by the generosity of so many people over the Christmas period.
“We will be continuing the Christmas Wishing Tree programme this year.”
