The Brian Bell Group of Companies is partnering with the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee to support Papua New Guinea athletes pursue their Olympic dreams and compete at the Tokyo Olympic Games this year.
Established in 1958 by Sir Brian Bell, the Brian Bell Group is Papua New Guinea’s foremost retailer, wholesaler and distributor for a range of products.
The partnership will see a series of Olympic-themed initiatives staged to benefit Team PNG, including dedicated weekends where the proceeds of sales at Brian Bell’s Homecentre stores nationwide will go towards preparing national athletes for the Olympics.
These athletes will also be making appearances at Brian Bell stores, providing the chance for Brian Bell customers to interact with them and wish them well.
Brian Bell will also be supporting the Team PNG annual Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge with prizes for contestants.
PNG Olympic Committee (PNGOC) secretary-general Auvita Rapilla welcomed Brian Bell as a partner and thanked their board for the vision to develop PNG men and women through the Olympics.
“Just as the Brian Bell Group prides itself on excellence and dedication to supplying our nation, our Team PNG athletes demonstrate that same excellence and determination when representing our country and so I am thrilled at having Brian Bell Group of Companies join our family of sponsors,” she said.
“With this new partnership, we are confident of reaching more people with the Team PNG brand and inspiring more people to pursue their dreams just as our athletes pursue theirs.”
Brian Bell Group chief executive Cameron Mackellar said: “As a proud PNG company, we would like to support the PNG Olympic team and the broader development of ‘what the Olympics’ means to the general populous.
“We’d like to see a strong PNG contingent heading to the Tokyo Olympics.
“With this in mind, Brian Bell would like to show our support via a new sponsorship arrangement with PNGOC.”
The Olympics will be held from July 24 to Aug 9 and Team PNG has already qualified two places in sailing.
