A POLICE recruitment team from the highlands region claim the officers have been offered bribes by parents and public servants to select their sons and daughters.

The officers have also discovered that some of the Grade 12 certificates brought to the interviews were fake documents.

Police have warned potential candidates for the police force to refrain from these illegal activities. They have collected more than 100 scanned Grade 12 certificates.

The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary is on a major recruitment drive.

There are three other teams in

other regions.

The highlands region team started in Tari, Hela, last month and had gone to Mendi in Southern Highlands,  Wabag in Enga, Mt Hagen in Western Highlands and have completed Jiwaka.

About 50 successful candidates will be recruited from the highlands region.

The recruitment team alleged that a public servant in Mendi had offered K1,500 to have a relative selected.

In Wabag, K1,500 and a roasted pig were offered. In Mt Hagen, three different offers of K1,000 were received.

The team warned other organisations to be wary of such illegal practices and ensure that applicants’ names and details tally those on degrees or certificates.
