Magistrate donates torches
A SENIOR magistrate has taken the initiative to assist law and order enforcement in his district after donating torches to local police. Lihir District Court Senior Magistrate Albert Daniels on Aug 6 gave two 30-Watt torches to members of the Islands Mobile Group stationed on Lihir Island. “These are given as a symbolic gesture to the police from my family and I to support the role police officers play.”

Firm offers help
A LOCAL security firm in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, has offered to provide relief and humanitarian assistance to needy groups in the community. Nami Security Services director Zebedee Namura said his company would donate items to people in hospitals, prisons and those affected by natural disasters such as landslides, droughts and floods.

Court drops juvenile’s case
A GRADE nine student accused of sexually touching a minor has had his case struck out at the Waigani Committal Court on Friday. Roman Micha, 19 from Peravo village, Pori in Hela was alleged to have touched a 13-year-old girl.
