Order 14 issued
CONTROLLER of the State of emergency and Police Comm David Manning on Friday issued emergency order 14 in relation to the seizing of aircraft, vehicles, vessels and perishable goods. Manning said ‘designated goods’ such as betel nut, and any other perishable items, may be seized and destroyed during routine roadblocks or searches of vehicles by authorised officers. Manning said any aircraft, vehicles, or vessels that were found or suspected to be transporting these designated goods or transporting persons in breach of travel restrictions would be seized and impounded for the period of the SOE.

Unite to fight virus
STAKEHOLDERS in New Ireland are continuing their collaboration through an endorsed joint stakeholder committee (JSC) to help Lihir respond to the challenges posed by Covid-19. They are Nimamar LLG, Lihir Gold Ltd, Lihir Mining Area Landowners Association, MRL Capital Ltd, Tenement Landowners, Police, Mineral Resources Authority, Lihir Malaria Elimination programme and International SOS.

Plans to track PMVs
PUBLIC motor vehicles may be put on GPS tracking with Covid-19 compliance stickers to operate, says Police Minister Bryan Kramer. He said state of emergency controller was currently in talks with the Transport secretary on how to get the public transport back online, compliant and have a safety response to Covid-19.

PM bans travel
SOLOMON Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has banned the movement of small watercraft across his country’s shared maritime border with PNG, Radio New Zealand reported. The border runs between the Shortland Islands, Solomon Is and Bougainville, PNG.
