Institute not affected: Director
A NEW school in Lae has not been affected with the Covid-19 lockdown and restrictions and is going on well. Executive director of Manix Training Institute (MTI), an affiliated college with the Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, Griffith University in Australia and University of America in the US, Peter Wai, said their classes were not disrupted because they have been offering online classes to their students.

Couple donate relief supplies
A COUPLE donated food relief supplies to informal urban settlers in Goroka facing food shortages when restrictions are enforced in the battle against the coronavirus. Goroka man Kinsley Wal and his wife Helen went to settlers mainly engaged in informal trading, particularly with betel nut, at Suave market who were forced off their table markets due to the state of emergency.

Meeting on public transport
MORE than 70 public motor vehicle owners congregated last Friday in Lae, Morobe, meeting with stakeholders to find ways forward in keeping the transport system in operation. The stakeholder’s present included the administrator, PEC transport chairman, Lae Metropolitan Command and Lae Chamber of Commerce president.

District allocates K100,000
IN response to the Covid-19, the Nawaeb development authority in Morobe has allocated K100,000 towards carrying out awareness and purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the district. The provincial health authority supported the district with counter-funding of K33,000.

MP commends police
HEALTH and police personnel engaged in the Covid-19 SOE operations in Eastern Highlands have been commended for their effort. Henganofi MP Robert Atiyafa said they did well to set up the isolation centre, manning the curfew, monitoring district health centres and guarding the border transit points at Daulo and Kassam pass respectively.

Authority to issue gear
THE Road Traffic Authority (RTA) will be issuing personal protective equipment (PPE) and face masks with hand sanitiser to PMV and taxi operators in Port Moresby. RTA chief executive officer Nelson Terema thanked UN Women for the donation and urged operators to be serious about the Covid-19 preventive measures.

Schools receive materials
THE Education Department has presented
Enga schools with teaching and learning materials recently in preparation for classes following
the Covid-19 lockdown. According Enga’s tuition fee free (TFF) coordinator Susan Patrick, the materials were meant for last year but were not delivered.

Firm donates PPEs
HEVILIFT Ltd donated personal protective equipment (PPE) at a cost of K50,000 to Gulf and Western to support the fight against the Covid-19. Pilot and company representative Samantha Lee said the PPEs, from Australia, included hand sanitiser, face masks, hand gloves, face shields and thermometers.
