EAST Sepik police commander Supt Albert Beli has called on the people in the province not to conduct business at the Dagua market on Sundays. “We have six days to make money, why can’t we give Sunday to God?” he said.

Konga assists land group
EAST New Britain Governor Nakikus Konga committed K10,000 to the Tokarut incorporated land group (ILG) of Gazelle last Thursday. Speaking during the group’s launch, Konga said the funding was to help it get established in order to develop the district’s wards.

Take preventative measures
PEOPLE of Parakris and Bubu wards in Mumeng local level government, Bulolo, Morobe, have been told to take preventive measures against the Covid-19 seriously after the rise in cases in Port Moresby. Local MP Sam Basil said this during the presentation of two trucks to the council wards this week.

Check points set up: MP
BULOLO MP Sam Basil says check points have been set up at various locations in the district for people traveling in and out on PMVs. “We will also tighten up preventive measures at Wau Airport for flights coming in from Port Moresby, Garaina and Waria to be screened,” he said.

GOVERNOR Powes Parkop has urged city residents to work together in the fight against the Covid-19. He said: “The sooner you come to terms that the virus is in the city, the better it is for us to overcome this challenge.”

Police concerned
DEPUTY Assistant Commissioner of Police, Highlands Eastern End Chief Supt Joseph Tondop says there is a need for police presence at various locations in Western Highlands but is yet to get instructions from Controller David Manning. Chief Supt Tondop said the virus would certainly spread to the Highlands through Lae and called for a check point at Water Bung on the border of Eastern Highlands and Chimbu.

Tests return negative
SEVERAL tests carried out on individuals and persons of interest (POI) for the Covid-19 in the Western Highlands have returned negative, health authority chief executive officer David Vorst says. Vorst revealed this during a provincial Covid-19 committee meeting last week that this was a good sign and they would continue to apply strict rules to make sure that the province was protected.
