School farewells head teacher
ST Theresa Elementary and Primary School students and teachers in Port Moresby bade farewell to head teacher Christine Tsuga who had served 36 years in Catholic schools, last Friday. Port Moresby Catholic education secretary Paula Bomai congratulated Tsuga for her service and accomplishments as a teacher.

Promote peace, says PPC
NEWLY-appointed Morobe commander Supt Jacob Singura says his priority was to ensure police personnel promote and maintain peace and harmony among communities at all times. “Besides our primary role of detection and prevention of crime, preservation of peace, investigation and arrest prosecution of offenders to seek justice through the courts, police must always bear in mind that we are also peacemakers.”

Road nearing completion
THE Usino-Yal road in Madang’s Usino-Bundi is likely to be completed by the end of the year, MP Jimmy Uguro says. Uguro said the newly-built bypass Usino-Yal road was built to accommodate transportation of chromite from the Ramu nickel mine to Madang.

Raminai launches NRI’s plans
HIGHER Education Minister Wesley Raminai recently launched Papua New Guinea National Research Institute (NRI)’s strategic plan 2021-2030 and corporate plan 2021-2023. The NRI said its council was setting its vision through the plans in terms of structure, profession, staffing and influence. The NRI council submitted the public investment programme proposal to Raminai for the construction of the Sir Henry Chow Building to complement the knowledge hub concept.

Cop’s murder case adjourned
A POLICE officer charged with shooting dead his colleague two months ago at 5-Mile Ridge settlement in Port Moresby had his case adjourned to July 29 for instructions on his police file. Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Danny Wakikura remanded Frank Teine. Teine, 28, from Kundiawa’s Kombulg village in Chimbu, is based at the public safety unit in the Boroko Police Station. He was alleged to have shot Presley Phillip on April 12, during a dawn raid in search of a robbery suspect.

Forgery case adjourned
AN officer with the National Cultural Commission charged with 100 counts of forgery and uttering documents will return to court in two weeks’ time for police to serve his files. Magistrate Danny Wakikura, in the Waigani Committal Court, adjourned Andrew Kina’s case to July 13 after Police Prosecutor Snr Const Regina Kilip told the court that his files were nearing completion. His bail of K2,000 was extended with conditions.

Former MP’s case transferred
WAIGANI Committal Court magistrate Tracy Ganaii transferred former South Fly MP Sali Subam’s case to another magistrate as she would not be sitting in the committal courts by the end of the week. Magistrate Ganaii also disqualified herself from the case because she had already dealt with Subam’s co-accused where she found sufficient evidence against them.
