Air Niugini resumes flights
Air Niugini says it would resume its Dash-8 operations to Madang on Aug 23. The national flag carrier said this following information from National Airport Corporation that work on the Madang Airport runway is expected to continue until Aug 22.

K20,000 given for Goroka show
NEW Britain Palm Oil Ltd has presented K20,000 to the organising committee of this year’s 65th Goroka Show as a bronze sponsor. Country manager Robert Nilkare said: “The show is not only a well-known cultural event in the country, but one that also promotes innovation and socio-economic opportunities through displays and exhibits of a range of goods and services from around the country.”

Bishop laments resources’ use
THE country’s resources are being extracted at an increasing rate in the name of development, Evangelical Lutheran church of PNG head bishop Rev Dr Jack Urame says. He said it was sad to see the country’s resources going out while the living standards of the people had not improved much.

Synod dates announced
EVANGELICAL Lutheran church of PNG has announced the dates for their 33rd synod, which will be hosted by the church’s Papua district at Port Moresby next January. Head Bishop Rev Dr Jack Urame said the synod will run from Jan 9-15 and it will be different to previously hosted synods.

UN provides relief to schools
THE assistance given by Unesco (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) to flexible open and distance education and other schools in Lae, Morobe, is a relief to students after their studies were affected by the coronavirus, says an official. Morobe acting education adviser Keith Tangui said study materials containing phone tablets would be shipped into Lae in the coming weeks to be distributed to targeted schools.

There is an urgent need to establish a cocoa and copra buying points at one of the three wards of Lamaraen, Longmok and Kalip in the East Pomio local level government of Pomio in East New Britain. Lamaraen ward member Joseph Senenpaik said farmers from the three wards produced quantity copra and cocoa, but accessibility to a market remained a challenge.

Man held with marijuana rolls
POLICE in Port Moresby arrested a man on Tuesday after they found 15 rolls of marijuana in his possession. According to police, the 28-year-old man, from Enga, acted suspiciously when he was sighted at Lahara Park.
