Bring suspects to court or bench warrants will be issued: Judge

A judge has told State lawyers to inform arresting officers to bring accused persons to court or warrants would be issued for their arrests.
Waigani National Court acting Judge Laura Wawun Kuvi said this after the non-appearance of three accused before her court yesterday.
“State needs to confirm the receipt of files and confirm whether they are on bail or in custody,” she said.
Judge Kuvi said that those accused persons that needed a lawyer should choose one before appearing in court.
“It is important to choose a lawyer to represent you in court,” she said.
“It does not have to be a private lawyer, you can get assistance from the lawyers at the Public Solicitors Office,” she said.
