BROTHERS beat Koki Eels 8-2 to qualify for the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League-sanctioned national club championship in Lae from Nov 28-30.
They pocketed K10,000 which will be presented this week by PNGRFL chairman Sandis Tsaka.
Brothers will face the champions of the Northern, Highlands and New Guinea Islands confederations to determine the country’s premier club.
Port Moresby Rugby Football (POMRFL) champions Brothers were solid in defence as they held out a star-studded Eels outfit, who fielded six Digicel Cup players.
Brothers president Steven Johns and head coach Zebulon Ragi said as the Southern confederation’s premier club, “we need to maintain the pride of POMRFL”.
He said Ragi and his players made a commitment to turn up for training to maintain their fitness levels and improve their combinations.
“We are confident of doing well at the national club championship in Lae,” Johns said.
Confederation director Gwaibo Mairi congratulated Brothers on their victory.
