THE United Brothers claimed the minor premiership after winning their much-anticipated clash against Yokomo, 8-3, in the Port Moresby softball competition at the Bisini diamonds on Saturday.

Brothers, who lost to the Yokomo in the first round, were out to settle the score in a high stakes shot out.

For Yokomo, the lose capped off a dreary weekend as they also went down to fired-up Brown Eagles 7-2 yesterday.

Brothers, picked up an easy two points yesterday to consolidate their claim on minor title when they forfeited Stingerz.

Bears finished second and Gazelle third to round off the top four. 

Eagles’ win over Yokomo helped them tie down fifth ahead of Defence, who also beat Gazelle by the same score. 

Results: Saturday – Kopex forfeited Stingerz 7-0, Wolves 7 bt PNG Power 0, Brown Eagles forfeited Mantarays 7-0, Bears 8 Defence 1; Sunday – Bears 4 PNG Power 3, Kopex 9 Mantarays 1, Defence 5 Gazelle 2, Brown Eagles 7 Yokomo 2. 

Meanwhile, the president of the Port Moresby Men’s Softball Association Tom Sirae said the selectors would announced the men’s training squad this week.
