BANK South Pacific Financial Group Ltd (BSP) commissioned its first Anua Enterprise Ltd agent on Manam Island in Madang last week.
Madang branch manager Mary Koi said the Manam people would now save K100 for a boat ride to Madang town to access banking services.
“Accessing banking services involved travelling up to four hours to BSP in town, but that will now be a thing of the past,” he said.
“BSP is proud to expand its network of agents, bringing banking services closer to communities that were previously underserved.
“Anua Enterprise Ltd will continue to offer Manam customers cash deposits, withdrawals, fund transfers, and loan repayment services.”
Manam community representative Michael Rupunai thanked BSP.
He said that the agent would save customers about K100 in travel expenses to access banking services in Madang.
Rupunai also thanked Digicel PNG and the National Identification Office for assisting customers with the registration of their mobile SIM cards and identification cards.
“Their collaboration with BSP ensures a comprehensive and seamless experience for customers, further enhancing the accessibility and convenience of banking services in the region,” he said.
BSP banking agency manager Stanley Seimoni said BSP recognised the importance of providing banking services to all people in various geographical locations.
“With this new agent, Manam islanders can now enjoy the convenience of accessing banking services right in their own community,” he said.
