Bank South Pacific has donated a new K225,000 vehicle to St John Ambulance PNG to help them with their work.
The donation also covers maintenance and insurance support over a five-year period from 2018-2022 for the emergency response vehicle.
“This is a worthwhile donation that can help save lives, especially in emergency cases where timing is critical,” said BSP Port Moresby branch manager Diana Guria yesterday during vehicle presentation at Apec Haus.
The vehicle will be used by SJA rapid response unit to attend to emergencies in Port Moresby and Central.
St John Ambulance chief executive officer, commissioner Matthew Cannon, thanked BSP and said the vehicle would enable them to provide a high-level modern ambulance service.
“This paramedic command vehicle provides us an opportunity to improve our services as well as efficient delivery of emergency response,” he said.
“We are grateful for this help and will continue to deliver to the community with this great support.
“This donation shows that BSP sees St John as a significant service provider which helps us take pride in our work.” Cannon said there had been a lot of support from Government and it would help if business houses could also help them provide better services to the people. He said that this was a good step forward and hoped to see more of it happen throughout PNG.
