THE Bank South Pacific Financial Group Ltd will be expanding its Arawa branch in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville to cater for its growing customers, says chief executive officer Robin Fleming.
Fleming recently visited Arawa and said that BSP remained committed to improving services.
“Wakunai, Arawa and Buin are among 21 areas in PNG where BSP is the only bank operating and we are committed to providing improved banking services, including the expansion of our Arawa branch to cater for the growing customer base,” he said.
Fleming said the expansion of the Arawa branch was necessary to effectively provide banking services to the people of Bougainville.
Fleming and BSP New Guinea Islands area manager Ruby Patu met briefly with Arawa town mayor and South Bougainville MP Timothy Masiu.
“The trip was timely as we are heading towards Christmas, the peak period of our operations, it was good to visit our AROB branches and acknowledge our staff for their tireless contribution in the region.”
He said BSP remained committed not only through banking service delivery in the region but also through its corporate social responsibility in the annual community projects.
Buka branch manager Julie Warren and her team will hand over desks for Lonahan Primary School, North Bougainville on Buka Island.
“We hope to deliver the project in time for the Grade Eight basic examination,” she said.
The Buka BSP branch has completed 13community projects worth K305,000 since 2009.
In June, the Arawa branch gave desks to the Arawa Primary School (known as Bovo International School prior to the Bougainville Crisis) or Grade Three and Grade Four students plus a refurbished classroom.
Since 2009, the bank has delivered 21 community projects worth K550,000 through its Buka and Arawa branches.
