MORE than two million Eftpos and 3.5 million mobile transactions are expected to be conducted this month by Bank South Pacific customers in Papua New Guinea.
A large portion of the transactions is expected in Port Moresby, being the banks largest market, according to BSP deputy general manager digital retail in the National Capital District Nuni Kulu.
“We expect to see over two million transactions through Eftpos and more than 3.5 million mobile banking transactions this month,” she said.
“Port Moresby being our largest market will of course have the bulk of these transactions.”
Kulu told The National that the festive period was always a busy time for the bank.
She urged customers to bank on digital platforms.
“This is the busiest time for our branches and instead of visiting a branch, customers can conveniently use mobile banking and the nearest BSP agent in their neighbourhood to do most of their banking,” she said.
“It is the season to be merry and time is critical for consumers especially to get all the shopping and payments done.
“Customers can save time with shopping and payments by using Eftpos terminals and take cash out at the same time.
“Send money to family and friends and pay bills conveniently using mobile banking.
“Pay for electricity and mobile phone credits anytime anywhere using mobile banking. Take up a BSP unsecured personal loan if travelling home for the holidays, purchasing household items or attending to family obligations.”
“It is also the right time to plan for children’s education fees for 2018 and BSP is offering personal loans now so avoid any inconvenience”.
