BANK South Pacific presented K8,000 to support the Port Moresby Arts Theatre (MAT) stage its seventh annual youth arts programme (YAP).
This festival is an avenue for youths to express themselves and promote awareness about current social issues in the communities particularly on violence, gender equality, religion, drugs, and bullying. “BSP as a community-orientated bank is delighted to lend a hand as co-sponsors of the event to help support an event that adds so much value to the communities through awareness and community empowerment,” BSP corporate sponsorship manager Amelia Minnopu said.
Moresby Arts Theatre marketing manager Andrew Kuliniasi said: “Theatre has the power to bring people together, influence the way that we think and feel, encourage personal reflection, and foster creativity and expression.
“We believe that exposure to the creative process can have a positive impact on student’s ability to create and be more confident in front of an audience. Thank you to BSP for the generous support that will assist us in extending our work with schools and young people in dramatic arts training.”
The six-week programme, which would involve secondary schools in the National Capital District, is scheduled to start on July 22 during the third term and ends on Aug 30.
