HAVING basic knowledge on how to manage and invest money is important like having a set of savings goals, ways on how to increase savings, and having saving plans, a bank officer says.
Bank South Pacific financial education manager Gabriel Nangile said this when visiting the Central Dabaris rugby league team in Port Moresby last week.
The team was presented with financial literacy training certificates after undergoing training.
The team spent time the Waigani Drive branch team, who helped them open accounts and conduct training last week.
The training aimed to provide basic knowledge on how to manage and invest money and financial education on savings, budgeting and using the right banking products that would help them achieve personal savings goals.
“With the basic skills of budgeting and saving, we hope that we can help these young men to manage their money and make more informed decisions when it comes to finance,” Nangile said
“We are quite pleased to be able to work with the Central Dabaris rugby league club.”
Dabaris chief executive officer Hubert Warupi thanked Bank South Pacific for the life skills programme.
“The team is pleased with the presentation of certificates from this training and for the time,” he said.
“We want to promote responsibility in managing money and encourage basic savings. “We continue to encourage the players to take what is shared and make wise decisions as sportsmen.”
