BSP receives prestigious award

BANK South Pacific yesterday received a prestigious global award from Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG) for the success of the BSP School Kriket programme last year.
This is the third time in which the BSP School Kriket programme has won the award globally since bagging the award consecutively in 2010 and 2011.
The programme, in its 11th year, continues to exceed the expectation of participants and has the highest output of any grassroots initiative in the associate cricket world.
Partnering the programme was the newly-created Cricket For Good, a Child Fund Australia pilot initiative that was introduced into PNG to address social issues and to build confidence in youth and young adults.
The programme was hugely successful in its first year with demand stretching BSP and CPNG’s ability to service all interested communities.
BSP’s Group chief executive Robin Fleming said he was grateful to receive the award from CPNG, adding that the bank would continue to support the programme and develop more children in cricket.
Fleming lauded the efforts and commitment by CPNG.
Cricket PNG CEO Greg Campbell said: “On behalf of CPNG we are honoured to present this prestigious award.
“It gives recognition to our hard-working community development teams within the BSP School Kriket and Cricket for Good programmes.
“We use cricket to drive social change and education in our communities, the value is evident when you see the numbers and results.”
