THE induction of 20 British American Tobacco trade marketing representatives began yesterday in Port Moresby.
The two-week induction is to build the capacity of representatives before they are posted to various locations.
BAT Lae representative Bill Mereke told The National that the gist of the induction was on growth. He is grateful of to be part of the company’s nationwide expansion.
“There are 20 of us at the induction training here in Port Moresby” Mereke said.
“We are getting to know how BAT operates and the processes that need to be followed for us to do our jobs in the places we are sent to. I will be based in Lae.”
The first week is spent indoors while they will go in the second week to the field with people who are already on the ground.
“With the current economic climate that the country is going through where a lot of companies are downsizing or not recruiting at all, BAT is increasing its presence in the country. I am grateful for this opportunity and for the company’s expansion despite the state of the economy,” he said.
BAT head of human resources and facilities Tim Solly said the representatives would be the face of the company at the various locations.
