FORMER prison warder Sam Saki was the first in Morobe to sign his declaration as the new Buang local level government president at the Electoral Commission office in Lae yesterday.

Saki was declared on Monday ahead of 19 candidates, including incumbent Steven Sep, a veteran of 15 years.

Buang is the first LLG in Morobe to complete its elections, assistant election manager Fredah Joses and Buang LLG manager Winnie Naken, who witnessed the signing-in, said.

Saki said elections in his area was smooth and efficient, allowing polling and counting to finish way ahead of most LLGs in Morobe.

“It was peaceful and without incident,” Saki said.

Saki met with his LLG adviser Maboi Mato and was presented with his first 100-day in office action plan.
