KAUGERE Bulldogs pinched the Moresby South Rugby League minor premiership with a 42-0 thrashing of 2-Mile United in round 15 of the A-grade competition at Moresby South Stadium last weekend.
They were able to secure the honours after Taurama Wolfpack and 6-Mile Crows played out a scoreless draw.
The match between top-eight sides Vadavada United and Gabutu Dragons was abandoned with the scores locked at 12-12.

Time was given to the match committee to double check all score sheets to re-confirm the final points table at the end of the regular season.
Committee official Kelsy Vaii said a re-check had confirmed that Kone Eagles and Koro Souths, both on 17 points, were tied for eighth spot.
“The league board and club executives did not deliberate on this matter,” he said.
“But in such situations in the past, both teams played off for the eighth spot.”

Eagles and Souths are to battle for the final spot upon easing of the country’s new Coronavirus (Covid-19) measures.
Bulldogs, Raiders, Crows, Wolfpack, United, Dragons and Sons have confirmed their spots for the top-eight finals.
“We deserved the minor premiership as we worked hard and were consistent since the season kicked off,” Bulldogs captain Joe Omaro said.

“We maintained our lead but lost to newcomers Taurama Wolfpack.
“Despite the shock loss, we were fortunate enough to win in the crucial stages to grab the minor premiership.”
Minor premiership aside, he said they were now looking forward to going deep into the finals in their bid to complete the double.

“The Covid-19 disruption may affect our performance, I urge all my players to attend training and remain focused,” Omaro said.
“We can’t relax as training is key to maintaining our fitness and form during the month-long break.
“Teams like Crows, Raiders, Wolfpack, Vadavada and Dragons are also determined to win the premiership.”
