Buria Reds, Central Dabaris victorious in Southern league

BURIA Reds and Central Dabaris Development recorded wins in round eight of the Southern Super League National Gaming Control Board Cup at Moresby South Stadium on Saturday.
Buria Reds beat Motu-Koita Lagatois 29-22 for a second-straight win and Dabaris fought back to edge Port Moresby Suburban Ducks 16-14.
Morea Heni Jr starred for Buria with his four conversions and one try helping him earn the man-of-the-match award.
Nou Kelly, Heni Kari and Jaydee Ioka crossed over for tries to get Buria on the front foot in the first half.
Lagatois scored through Vagi Augustine and Gahuna Silas, who converted his own try, to trail 10-16 at the break.
Despite not fielding any Digicel Cup players, Buria – from Hiri West – defended solidly and were rewarded with two more converted tries to Lou Nou and Morea.
Lagatois replied with tries to Walter Ahuta and Terry Misi with Digicel Cup star Silas converting both four-pointers.
