Businesses need space: Tasion

LOCAL businesses such as the Tasion Group should be given the space to reach their full potential to advance the Government’s vision, chairman Sam Tasion says.
“We need to operate independently,” he said.
“Despite our challenges we still put food on the table for employees, our sub-contractors and stakeholders.”
Tasion told the 2019 Startup Convention last week to not look at the short term gain but invest over the long term.
“Let us forge partnerships and help grow our SMEs (small to medium enterprises). “Tasion Group has a responsibility and we intend to deliver on local content for all our business units,” he said.
“If we can simply contribute on a small scale to help grow other SMEs then we are helping to build a culture that will pave the way for others to follow.
“We need to create a business sharing culture on local content that promotes benefit sharing amongst our people and for our people.
“Our people are important to our company and our legacy is important, we must protect it.”
Tasion further said there were different phases in terms of business growth and financial capacity in business.
“People talk a lot about a strong political will but what value is political will when it interferes with a commercial contract?
“Tasion Group is a national company and we intend to drive a business will be a benefit for our people in Port Moresby and also on Manus.
“Tasion Group started from selling ice and expanded to car business, logistics, hospitality, security and now project management.”
