LOCAL businessman Roxon Kunuma Undi sponsored Ialibu-Pangia’s Wagai Kewabi Rugby League with K2,000 worth of trophies and K10,000 prize money during Sunday’s grand final between Pawia Roosters and Wagai Rabbitohs.
He urged youths to be role models in their communities while playing rugby league.
Undi said supporting youths through sports was a way to keep them out of trouble. “There are youths who have no chance in education or the workforce, keeping them busy through sports is a unique way to help them,” he said.
“Sports is another way to create opportunities for them.”
Fellow businessman Tony Kondo, from Riwi in the Kewabi local-level government area of Ialibu, assured that he would assist in affiliating the league under the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League this year. Undi’s support is not the first in Kewabi.
He recently sponsored Ialibu league with K10,000 prize money and K2,000 worth of trophies, Utame league K8,000 prize money and K2,000 worth of trophies, and Kirene league K5,000 prize money and K2,000 worth of trophies.
Undi has also supported youths through sports in Pangia and Kagua-Erave.
