THE Censorship Office has received 169 containers of oil and cream supplements this year for buttock enlargement, says chief censor Jim Abani.
“We have now realised that in the past two months, women have been ordering creams online for buttock enlargement,” he explained.
“Although notices have been given out to the importers, they are still importing.”
Abani said that they will continue to monitor those who are ordering online or bringing it into the country.
He said people who were using these products should be mindful of the dangers.
“There were reports of people dying while using these products and that’s when someone has high blood pressure at that time they are using it,” Abani said.
Abani explained that the 169 items came from the Konedobu Post Office in the National Capital District.
“Most of what comes in the mail arrive at the Customs Southern Region Office through Express Mail Service or Thomas Nationwide Transport.
“Once Customs get such packages, they refer them to the censorship office,” he said.
Abani said they would have a stakeholders’ consultation with relevant agencies on March 26 to discuss tougher penalties or prosecution.
“We are also going to make amendments to the Censorship Act. We are still having consultations,” he said.
