B’ville sworn in three-member caretaker government

A THREE-member caretaker government was sworn in at the Bougainville House of Representatives on Friday by Justice Sir Kina Bona.
President-elect Ishmael Toroama named Halia MP Patrick Nisira as vice-president and South Bougainville’s Therese Kaetavara as the women’s representative.
Toroama said the caretaker government would be responsible for running the government for the next 14 days. “This will include meetings and ongoing consultations with the PNG Government, key development partners and the ABG administration, public service machinery and government agencies,” he said.
“The caretaker government will implement relevant policies and directives towards a more permanent government, considering also the financial and budgetary implications. I believe my caretaker government is balanced, experienced and prepared to deliver in the next 14 days.”
They will look after ministries until a cabinet is named.
Toroama is responsible for Planning and Inter-government Relations, Minerals and Energy Resources, Post-Referendum and Consultations, Finance and Treasury, Police, Correctional Services and Justice.
Nisira is responsible for Primary Industries and Marine Resources, Agriculture and Livestock, Economic Development, Technical Services, Lands, Physical Planning, Environment and Conservation and Personnel Management and Administrative Services.
Kaetavara will be responsible for Education, Health and Community Development
