MARKHAM MP Koni Iguan, the new Minister for Communications and Information Technology, says his biggest challenge will be allocating time to attend to his electorate duties.
He said he must divide his time between his Cabinet portfolio and his electorate.
He said it had always been his dream to one day serve the country as a Cabinet minister.
He thanked God for his blessing and guidance. He thanked Prime Minister Peter O’Neill for having confidence in him.
“It shows the prime minister’s trust and confidence in the Pangu Party as an important coalition partner to manage the affairs of the country,” he said.
“I’m also thankful that my party leader (Sam Basil) has become the Finance Minister.”
The appointment of Iguan brings to three the number of Pangu MPs in Cabinet – Basil, Iguan and William Samb, who is in charge of Bougainville affairs.
Iguan was the chairman of the public accounts committee. He became an MP in 2007 but lost the seat to Paul Isikiel in 2012.
He won it back in 2017.
Iguan said the transition from being in Opposition for five years, becoming part of the Government, and now a Cabinet minister was a challenge.
