Call for independent investigation

MORESBY North-East MP John Kaupa wants an independent investigation by police into the shootout that claimed the lives of two men from his electorate on Saturday.
Kaupa said crime of any nature committed by people could be dealt with by police as required.
The Chinese business community from Erima and the MP had called on the police minister and police comm to do an independent investigation into the shooting at Erima.
He visited the haus krai at Erima Tari Block on Tuesday with a delegation of Chinese business community from Erima and presented goods worth about K10,000 and gave K10,000.
“I thank the business houses for the timely donations to help the families of the deceased,” Kaupa said. “Our business communities in Erima have been part of us. They are creating employment and provided service for our people for many years.”
He said people were struggling to survive in the city.
“As a responsible Government, we are doing our part to help them have a sustainable living through SMEs, education sponsorship and others.
