Call to stop travellers from China

Letters

THIS is an important call to Prime Minister James Marape to temporarily stop all direct flights from China to prevent the spread of deadly coronavirus. The Coronavirus which has so far killed 80 people and infected nearly 2,700 in China.
If the Marshall Islands and Samoan governments have banned travellers from China in wake of the deadly new virus, I don’t see any reason why PNG cannot do the same.
In the meantime, forget about the business and focus on people’s lives.
People’s health is paramount. There’s only one life that we all have.
Business and money have no limitation. They will stay.
Responsible agencies in PNG may have equipment to test and prevent the new virus.
If the virus had claimed the lives of 80 people in China, I doubt PNG will be able to prevent the virus.
As precaution, stop direct flights from China to PNG.
Prevention is better than cure.

Coronavirusthreatening

THE deadly coronavirus has already claimed 80 lives in China and is spreading throughout the Asian region and across the globe at an alarming rate.
Many countries are responding to it by putting in place urgent security and quarantine measures to contain the virus at airports and seaports.
PNG citizens working or studying in China are at great risk and their families are concerned about their safety.
China and the other Asian countries affected by the coronavirus are just next door to Papua New Guinea.
The virus is bound to hit PNG at any moment from now because of the many Asians and other foreigners travelling into PNG from the region.
The Government should wake up from her sleep and put in place urgent quarantine measures to contain the virus.
