A CANDIDATE for the Tewai-Siassi open electorate, Morobe province, is confident that the country can progress and escape from its social and economic woes if new parliamentarians with a completely new mindset form the government and lead.
Kaimur Nigel Kiaka, a People’s Movement for Change (PMFC) candidate, said the country lacked the desired political direction and corrective measures needed  to be implemented immediately after the elections.
“These leaders must have visions which are workable and achievable. Together with these, they must be equipped with intense and suitable knowledge, responsible attitude and background and be well and suitably experienced.
“It is time for our beautiful country to make a complete diversion from its current course. There is struggle for power in the government and unfair sharing of resource yields,” he said.
“We must save our country now from the selfish leaders who have held our country at ransom for the last 37 years. That includes the ones that we have voted in five years ago.
“They all must go. Although we choose a good leader, if he joins hands with those that have been in the system, he will be easily influenced.”
into operating like them.” “A fact that people may not realise is that, a candidate you vote in is always influenced and governed by the policies and protocols of the party they stand for or join. You are voting twice, for your candidate and also for the party, which you wish to be managed by its policies. Such parties may preach good leadership, good governance, honesty, trustworthiness and all the sweet little stories, but the real act is never revealed until they get into power,” Kiaka said.
