CAR dealer Ela Motors is aware of counterfeit vehicle parts on the market, but urges customers to think about safety.
Chief executive Keiichiro Kuwabara said Ela Motors supported the Government’s efforts to protect consumers from counterfeit products.
“We don’t feel the market is currently flooded with counterfeit vehicle parts but you can easily find fake products,” he said.
“We have serious concerns because the use of such unlawful low quality products is against the customer’s interest.
“The customer may not be aware they are purchasing counterfeits as the packaging is very similar
“A dubious supplier will intentionally deceive the customer into thinking they are genuine.”
Kuwabara said Ela Motors’ supply sources were from Japan and Australia.
“All the Ela Motors’ supply sources are genuine, including Japan and Australia, based on our distributor agreement with the suppliers,” he said.
“My assurance to the public is that only an authorised distributor would have such genuine supply route originated by the suppliers themselves.”
Ela Motors has been providing quality new and used vehicles for over 50 years, with a comprehensive range and quality across PNG.
