A LAE committal court struck out a breaking and entering case on Friday because police files were not ready after four months.
Magistrate Lorna Sani freed Samuel Komba, 18, of Siroga village in Tufi/Oro Bay, Northern, and struck out the charge against him.
Magistrate Sani noticed that Komba first appeared in court in March.
Police alleged that on March 11, at Suko Block in East Taraka, Lae, Komba was among about 50 masked men and two females who went into the victim’s home.
They said some of the men stood guard around the outside perimeter while others used house-breaking equipment and tools to cut open the security wire fencing.
The court noted that the armed men and Komba broke into the victim’s trade store and stole goods while calling the Satan to help them.
They stole goods valued at K4,000 along with K1,200 cash and three Samsung phones and one Alcatel phone valued at K1,900 plus personal effects valued at K200 – all totalling K7,300.
The court was also informed that properties worth about K1,000 were (two broken doors, security wire fence and fly wire) damaged during the activities.
