THE Catholic church opened the way to Christianity in Papua New Guinea.
The missionaries who brought the word of God were the priests, brothers and nuns; they came through hardship.
And it is through them that “peace” came and now you, the little churches, want to challenge the Catholic church.
You mentioned the pope, the first pope was apostle Peter. Jesus Christ himself gave the “key”  and said:  “You are the rock on which I will build my
foundation or church and no one on this earth will break it”.
The pope, cardinals, bishops, priests, brothers and nuns have special blessings from church elders.
Since they have special blessings they are committed to that particular mission or vocation.
But other human beings are different from them – we have other commitments, therefore we commit sins every now and then and we go to them to pray on our behalf.
You mentioned worshipping the pope and mother Mary. We know how we have respect for them, we don’t worship them but we honour them.
We honour mother Mary because she gave birth to Jesus Christ who died for you and me.
