Catholic education official calls for review of TFF policy

THE tuition free funds policy needs to be reviewed to get rid of hiccups like late funds and misuse for a smoother flow, Catholic Education secretary Michael Ova says.
Ova said the policy was good but small hiccups had slowed progress.
Ova said the policy needed patching up gaps to enable better flow.
He said the education board had policies in place to address them but political interference was controlling decisions.
“Catholic-run schools and institutions total up to 3310 institutions in the country, we know what to do with the TFF money we get every year,” Ova said.
He said an impact study of the TFF policy should be done immediately to address and solve the situation.
Meanwhile, Ova said they were happy with the government for allocating K40,000 to mainline churches this year.
He said whatever funds the government put aside for its partner organisations were welcomed.
“We also want the TFF to get to schools on a quarterly basis so that flows the institutions’ administrative work to run smoothly.”
Ova also asked the government to release grant in aid funds to churches to help them managed their own run institutions, aid posts, clinics and hospitals.
