Police in Port Moresby have charged Central Provincial Administrator Gei Raga with one count of official abuse
of public office on Tuesday.
Raga, 56, from Gamoga village in Rigo district, was later released on a bail of K500 at the Boroko Police Station.
Police alleged that Raga had failed to settle outstanding payments of almost K4.7 million to service providers in Papa, Boera and Lealea villages
who where creditors on a road project.
NCD Met Supt Benjamin Turi told The National that the case started earlier this year when there was direction for Raga to pay the outstanding amount to the contractors.
He refused to do so as claimed by the complainants and therefore was arrested and charged with abuse of office.
Raga will appear at the Waigani Committal Court this week.
