THE Central Provincial Assembly was unable to pass its budget last week because it was incomplete and needs to be finalised, says Central provincial assembly chairman and Governor Robert Agarobe.
“As you know and as you are aware there are lots of issues within the province,” he said.
“It is important that the budget has to be aligned properly with our provincial plan moving forward because this meeting is the turning point for Central province.
“Successive governments over the years have always done cut and paste on our provincial plan and that’s why you see a lot of wastage.
“You can see very clearly now in the last 46 years that Central province hasn’t really advanced compared to other provinces.
“That’s why after I went through the budget paper that was prepared by our administration (budget committee).
“I wasn’t satisfied with the alignment in place so I have deferred the budget until such time that alignments are done correctly,” Agarobe said.
“The assembly will rise now so that we can go down into lock down and complete the budget and then call up another date when we are finished to debate the budget and pass it,” he said.
The meeting was adjourned March 10.
