Central MPs discuss autonomy

ABAU MP Sir Puka Temu says Central needs to be autonomous because of border and other issues with the National Capital District Commission.
He said this during the Central development forum held yesterday in Port Moresby.
Sir Puka said all the issues could be addressed effectively under an autonomous government.
He said he and Governor Robert Agarobe had discussed the plan for autonomy because the province needed its own identity ability to manage its affairs.
The forum was held to discuss issues in the province such as the Central government small plan and budget.
Some of agendas included health, education, agriculture, sports, land border issues and legislation.
MPs and the governor met with students to discuss the issues affecting the province and to address the issues.
The forum sought to create an avenue where the elected leaders, bureaucrats, relevant stakeholders and, most importantly, tertiary students could discuss development agendas of the province.
The objective was to see relevant and practical solutions being mooted that could be implemented to contribute to the development of the province.
