TRAGEDY has struck again at the PNG Games but this time it came after the official closing last Friday.
Team Central paralympic manager Rose Apini died early yesterday – at about 6:30am – after the vehicle she was travelling in was involved in an accident
in Kokopo.
Apini was travelling into town from Tokua airport when the accident occurred.
Apini, from Oririopetana village in Mekeo, Central, is believed to be in her 40s.
Her death is the second at the Kokopo Games after a member of the Madang paralympic team, Richard Gambu, died from a heart attack last Monday.
There are also unconfirmed reports of two Team Madang female athletes missing in Kokopo.
They went missing after the closing ceremony last Friday.
